Tour Overview:
This 3-hour tour will cover the most interesting historic sites found right in the middle of old Seoul, often overlooked by expat-residents. We will first visit the historic Young Nak Presbyterian Church, learning its story. Then we will thoroughly tour the nearby Myeong-dong Cathedral where the Pope Francis himself held a mass! We will be learning about its architecture and 110 years of history.
Walking through the busy Myeong-dong streets, we'll pass the historic Myeong-dong Theater and “UNESCO House” building, and hear of their significance, and what they do and offer.
The old site of the Chinese Embassy, R.O.C. Community Center, Chinese School and “Chinatown” will be viewed, with more storytelling. Crossing through a sector of the vast “underground mall” to the grand 1930 Bank of Korea Building, we'll take a brief look at the most interesting items in its Currency & Coin Museum!!!
Strolling further up a surprisingly-pleasant back-alley up to Westin Chosun Hotel, we will view its 1897 “Temple of Heaven” shrine while hearing an extensive historical explanation of it – and then finishing this tour and dispersing at-will.
This tour will be guided by our absolutely beloved and super story teller plus furthermore Korean Tourism and Public Service professor David A. Mason, an expert on the history of this nation's traditional culture. He has authored many books and articles, and successfully led many tours for us and other organizations.
