SUNY Korea provides a variety of academic English courses according to the curriculum and standards of the New York home campuses. The SUNY Korea English Program, designed to prepare English learners for studying in an American context, consists of the Program in Academic English (PAE) for SBU and FIT students and the Intensive English Center (IEC) for the freshmen who have not submitted the required English scores.
Program in Academic English (PAE)
The Program in Academic English (PAE) at SUNY Korea offers foundational courses in writing and oral communication that meet the University’s general education requirement. These courses prepare students for their academic success in writing, research, and communication for advanced courses throughout SUNY Korea.
The Intensive English Center (IEC) at SUNY Korea offers a program of courses and activities, identical to our sister program at Stony Brook University in New York, providing educational and cultural opportunities while promoting English proficiency for academic purposes. Our main priority is to support our students’ language and cultural needs in acquiring the knowledge and language skills necessary to prepare them for intercultural communication. With exposure to the intensive English courses offered in the SUNY Korea IEC, students can become not only fluent in the English language but also mentally prepared for the challenges of being international students.
